VOLUNTEER TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

Do you have a passion to support seniors and family caregivers? We need help setting up events and promoting our sessions throughout our community. We believe everyone has a talent or skill to make an impact in the community. Past Events

April 20

Almost 30 participants attended our full day training with 5 of the Gaia Cares Staff presented on different topics with related to serving the seniors and the caregivers. 30 participants were awarded with certificate of completion.


July 8

Gaia’s volunteer training workshop last session ended on July 8th and over 20 participants are awarded with certificate of completion. All our volunteers enjoyed the opportunity to visit and play with the seniors at Golden Age Court. We are counting on them to deliver more volunteer services to the seniors in the future.


June 24

BC Registered Nurse, Isabella Yeung is invited to share some common health issues by seniors including mental and physical area during our 3rd Volunteer Training Workshop. We are also grateful to Richmond Councillor Chak Au who came to share his volunteer experience.


June 17

Gaia Care feels honoured to have Mr. Henry Yao MLA for Richmond South Centre sharing his views on being a volunteer in Canada at our second session of the volunteer training workshop. He later presented the appreciation certificates to Gaia ‘s volunteers for their contribution in 2023. We would also like to give our special thanks to Fairchild TV, MingPao and SingTao for reporting our latest survey and key recommendations to the local health authorities about fall prevention among seniors in Greater Vancouver.


June 10

Gaia Cares hosted the first session of the volunteer workshop training on June 10. There were close to 30 new volunteers who attended the session. Our speaker Mr. Tung from the Civic Education Society shared his views on the current Canadian Social and Welfare system. Our Executive Director Percy Wong also shared on the social needs of the chinese seniors.
