Seniors All-round Development Day Program

Service Introduction

Gaia’s “Seniors All-Round Development Day Program” (named “Adult Day Program”, ADP, as well) provides structured and supervised social, recreational, physical, cognitive, self-care, aesthetic and educational activities for frail seniors, post-stroke clients and those living with early signs of dementia. The Program helps preventing sense of social isolation and encourage independent living in the community as well as provides tailor-made support and information services for caregivers.

Program Date and Time     

FOUR quarters are divided in a physical year (Jan~Mar, Apr~June, July~Sept, Oct~Dec)

Every Monday 9:30am to 2:30pm except public holiday

~ 10 - 12 sessions per each quarter

Venue Burnaby Neighbourhood House Community Hall (5024 Rumble Street)

Service Target & Eligibility  

  • Seniors requiring assistance in daily living
  • Seniors requiring health monitoring and supervision on a regular basis
  • Seniors living with mild cognitive impairment or early signs of dementia
  • Seniors isolated from the community due to functional limitations
  • Seniors at risk of fall or being left alone
  • Seniors whose caregivers require regular periods of relief

  • Social & recreational activities
  • Art/Music activities
  • Nutritious meals & snacks
  • Classic Cantonese music appreciation
  • Cultural-&-linguistic appropriated activities/games
  • Individual counseling
  • Caregiver support

Number of Participants

15 (Pre-program interview required for participants & caregivers)

Fees

  • $10 per session (including meal & refreshment) , payable in full at the beginning of each quarter
  • Additional fees will be charged for transportation, outings and special events.

Application

Enquiries or referrals by healthcare professionals, social workers, or family/friends are welcomed throughout the year. Our staff will then get initial contact and add the potential user(s) into the Waitlist. Pre-program interview (intake/assessment) will be offered if vacancy is about to happen.
